I bought William O’Neil’s CANSLIM book many years ago and to make my purchase so much better, they gave me a free tape to go along with it. On the tape was Bill explaining how to use the CANSLIM method and how to trade stocks. Toward the very end of that tape, Bill briefly talks about making money in mutual funds.
I should’ve listened to him when he said, “to make money in mutual funds you just buy and hold for a long time.”

1At the risk of sounding stupid, elsewhere this blog mentions the following:
“To get the latest notes and follow the discussion, please subscribe to this feed: NMTGroupProject1″
Following the link to the NMTGroupProject1 takes me to feedburner where I can read the headings, but once I click a heading to read I’m immediately taken to a login page without any possibility of registering as a new user. Is the group “closed” for private members? If not, where do I sign up? I’m interested in neural nets for prediction, and specifically whether anybody has used automatic relevance determination for some of the inputs.

2Yes I noticed that it will only give you the feed titles. I meant to delete that because its misleading as you are required to “signup” in the group collaboration area. That section is currently closed for new participants.
I started a “test” group project for 5 individuals who wanted to build a model from scratch in that area and I will be creating an online class in about 2 months if you are interested to join then. I can’t get to it now because I’ll be traveling a lot in the next month and half.
By automatic relevance determination I assume you mean something along the line of Genetic Feature extraction? I’ve done that before where I’ve distilled large data sets into the “strongest” features and then modeled them.

3Ok, thanks for the info. I’ll look for announcements when you start another class or something. Regarding automatic relevance determination, from what I’ve read about RapidMiner/YALE it supports similar stuff already so I will probably see what I can work out there. Thanks for sharing your great tutorials.
If you by any chance get the possibility of joining me into your existing project, please email me using the contact details found at http://kjeldahl.net/ . Thanks.

4Kjeldahl, let me know how you make out and if its what you are looking for at Rapidminer. I can send you an automatic feature selection using GA experiment if you like.
I’ll put you on the list for the next round of classes for sure!
