Recent S&P500 Volatility

SP500 Volatility Chart 111107Many of the issues that required my attention will be resolved shortly and my readers can look forward to a more regular posting schedule starting sometime this week. To tide everyone over, I took a snapshot of the recent volatility the S&P500 has been experiencing. It sure looks like financial armageddon out there and we might actually see negative returns at the end the year for the major indices. Then again we might not, who knows.

    Tom,

I read your article in Futures Magazine and I wanted to say good work. I wanted to encourage you to make the data and RapidMiner templates used in the article available here on your blog. I would be very interested to load them up and play around as I’m sure others would as well.

    Keep up the good work!

I’m glad you liked it. I’ll post the data and templates to later tonight if I can find them.

I was pulled to reading this interesting take on Northern Rock and the limits of libertarianism by the screaming headline, “Governments aren’t perfect, but it’s the libertarians who bleed us dry” http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,,2197186,00.html

I love this quote from a commenter, “This is called privatise the profits and socialise the losses.”
