conservation program so we can go hungry,THAT’S A GREAT IDEA
there are only 25,000 people dying from hunger per day, HOW WONDERFUL
THERE WILL BE LESS PEOPLE TO FEED.
though i’m being sarcastic when i make the coments in caps, there are some people who actually feel this way.
Since when has this been taking place?,looks like since 1985.Subsidies are rampent to the tune of 15 billion a year.There are people getting paid not to grow crops or ever coonsiderd being a farmer but boaght the land in order to get paid the subsidies to help pay the morgage on their newly built mansion.They call these properties COWBOY STARTER KITS.> GOOGLE BILL MOYERS JOURNAL,EXPOSE watch the video ‘COWBOY STARTER KITS”
Just when you thought that everyone was on the same page to solve world hunger you get smacked upside the head with this callass aditude of the wildering program.
Some insane idea that land should go back to it’s wild state,Which then it would be clamed to be a preserve and the government can own it.(sounds like alot of disposseded paople in this countries future living in squaller)I SAY NO THANK YOU
TO CONFRONT IT
All you can hope for is the market to take it’s normal course of supply and demand and get back to work growing more crops because the grain prices are up.In fact IN MY OPINION all the subsidies should be elliminated completely except maybe the LDP as a safety net for falling price during harvest gluts.AND THATS IT, YOU GROW IT YOU GET PAID FOR IT. YOU DON’T, YOU WON’T PERIOD,and if you grow to much you sell it at the going price and instead of susidies you will get a tax write off(if wall street banks can do it the farmers should be able to do something like that)
So for growing crops you wind up with LDP’S and a tax write off(good deal)
For not growing crops you get ZIP.PERIOD
Now where would this extra food go, well, anywhere it needs to go to feed people in need PERIOD!

Just to add one more thing the LDP was never intended to be gamed and therefore should be only used the way it was intended to be used as a safety net against falling prices .When you deliver and sell your crops at the depressed price then and only then you will get your LDP funds.You can’t take the LDP funds and warehouse your crops
and not put them on the market in order to make the price go up,AND then sell the crop at higher prices and get the benefit of the LDP amd higher prices.THAT SHOULD BE ILEGAL .

DC: What I find amazing, and sad, is that the food prices have gotten so high that 3 billion people are at risk for going hungry.
