It sure looks like Gold broke out in September as featured in this monthly chart. I’m going to go long a few shares of GLD in my wife’s 401k account today. Why? Buying breakouts works reasonably well in trend following and they work fantastically if the stock is at all time highs.

Gold has been doing nothing for the past few weeks and its desperately trying to break through the $700 barrier. My guess is that Bernanke’s comments on subsiding inflation is taking the wind out of Gold.
